Thanks to the Excellence Scholarships, 90 outstanding students will have the opportunity to study short courses linked to their career and that will be taught at the best universities in the world: Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), University of Cambridge, University of Oxford and Harvard University .

The excitement and joy of our students were contagious in the Law Auditorium. Their relatives, of course, also smiled and took photos. It was no wonder. Thanks to the Excellence Scholarships, 90 PUCP students will travel in the coming weeks to study at four universities that are in the top 10 of the QS 2025 ranking: Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT, No. 1 in the world according to the QS ranking), University of Oxford (No. 3 in the world), Harvard University (No. 4 in the world) and University of Cambridge (No. 5 in the world).

During their stay, each scholarship recipient will take a short course related to their respective discipline. They have been recognized for their high academic level and command of English. They come from the faculties of Sciences and Engineering, Law, Psychology, and Letters and Human Sciences; and they will live this prestigious international experience thanks to the management of the Academic Office of Institutional Affairs.

Recognition ceremony for our outstanding students

On the occasion of this great achievement, on Thursday, July 4, we welcomed our 90 scholarship recipients and their families to congratulate them. At the recognition ceremony, Dr. Adriana Scaletti, director of the Academic Office of Institutional Affairs, recognized the achievement of being able to study a course at one of the best universities in the world.

“The short courses to which you are now leaving, you, students, not only represent a unique opportunity to expand your academic horizons, but also to grow as individuals and as future leaders in your respective disciplines (…). We are here because we believe in the power of education to transform lives and communities, and together we can achieve more than we could ever imagine individually,” said Dr. Scaletti.

Likewise, in his last public intervention as rector of our University, Dr. Carlos Garatea explained that this was a goal set from the beginning of his administration. “When we assumed the rectorship, we decided to make our commitment a reality to give talented students the opportunity to have an experience abroad (…) Go out, see, listen, learn. You learn not only in the classroom, but also outside. They are four extraordinary universities, four magnificent cities where they will have many stimuli and possibilities to take advantage of and enjoy, with maturity and serenity,” he commented.

The deans of the four faculties (Dr. Francisco Rumiche, of Sciences and Engineering; Dr. Carlos Iberico, of Psychology; Dr. Rocío Villanueva, of Law; and Dr. Francisco Hernández, of Letters and Human Sciences) expressed their best wishes and congratulated each of the scholarship recipients. In particular, Dr. Villanueva highlighted that, in her faculty, 70% of the participants in these scholarships are women.
